Quiddage has been going since about 1993.  It evolved from an earlier reward system where kids could save up reward points to purchase things (someone had kindly donated a whole lot of small items).  We called it Quidditch at the beginning.  Citizens earned 'snitches, quaffles and bludgers'.  I thought we should change it because JK Rowling might take us to court so we changed the terms to Quiddage and snidges.

Then rather than me do the selling, I thought we could maybe have the kids do the selling.  When we started to run out of items I decided they could make products to sell.  Then of course, we needed a bank to keep track of spending and for the bank to operate we needed to come up with jobs - accountants, bank manager and tellers.  It was a logical step to bring other classroom jobs under the Quiddage umbrella.

The early days were really exciting because there seemed to be almost no limit to what kids could come up with.  We had some outstanding businesses like 'Really Stupid Jokes are Us', Busking Buddies, Steel Viper Developments, fabulous Sock Monsters....
